1983–84 Painting awards to be resident for a year in Cyprus.
1989–94 Painting awards to be resident for one full year, plus return trips working in the field in Andalucia.
1999–06 Artist in Residence in the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Cambridge. A collaborative research project with Earth scientists exploring the evolution of life, land and the planet through their palaeontology collections.
2009 UNESCO Burgess Shale Artist in Residence. An international collaborative project to mark the centenary of discovering globally significant fossil beds in the Canadian Rockies, in collaboration with the Burgess Shale Geoscience Foundation, Field, BC.
2010–11 Happisburgh Beach, Norfolk. Archaeological project with the British Museum, Natural History Museum & Queen Mary College specialists in the field exploring earliest human occupation of Eastern England (Ancient Human Occupation of Britain – AHOB).
2010–13 British Museum collections and Franks House museum store – drawing and research of earliest museum Ice Age artefacts with Prehistory Keeper Jill Cook.
2013–17 Into the Holloway. Sequence project and a collaborative film made with Cesca Eaton.
2017–19 Conversations in the Landscape. Land project with reference to the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
Conversations with Kings. Project referencing the Kings of Judah collection at the Musée de Cluny, Paris.
